The First Annual Bite of Phinneywood

A Smashing Event, Indeed!

We were thrilled to sponsor and attend the inaugural Bite of Phinneywood! The weather was perfect and it was uplifting to see the neighbors come out and support our local restaurants! The PNA conducted a post-event poll with attendees and vendors, and the feedback was fantastic. 100% of the participating businesses gave the event its highest ranking.

Chris,  the Bite’s organizer, from PNA told us they have already started planning for 2023! Yay, Salmon Bay Community Lending will there!

What is a Bite?

A mouth watering tasting of sweet and savory yumminess from 22 restaurants in the neighborhood!

Why we chose to sponsor the Bite!

It was easy to get behind the idea of highlighting the neighborhood restaurants where an owner or chef of a restaurant feeds each attendee a bite from their menu.

We also loved the interactive approach! Attendees were motivated by a passport system to try each restaurant. Instead of buying single tickets or each bite individually, a Bite-Goer would be allowed to present their passport to each booth for a sampling from their menu.

For fun and a surprising amount of competitive banter between restaurants, attendees voted on Best Bite. There was amazingly a TIE between North Star Diner‘s Left Coast Reuben and Thaiku‘s Gaeng Krua Sapparod.

Unique  Events Create Thriving Neighborhoods

The Bite connected locals with dozens of neighborhood eateries that they can patronize and keep their business district healthy and thriving. As a result, PNA told us, numerous vendors say they already see an uptick in patronage.

In addition, it brought together the community for a delightful event surrounded by neighbors who had a blast!

Feedback from the Inaugural Passport Holders

“We felt like we got much more than a taste and left feeling full! I appreciated getting to try some of the newer places in the neighborhood, and now we are planning to visit! “

“The bites offered were great! I was impressed by the creativity in providing so many small portions. A handful either way!”

“A stellar new neighborhood event — we loved it! I can’t wait for next year’s Bite of PhinneyWood!”

“Everyone was so friendly! This event should invigorate local restaurants with more business now that we have tasted their food! The beer garden was lovely, thank you. “

Other Samplings

Beyond food....

The Bite had a beer garden hosted by Halcyon Brewing, a bookmobile for fun, a flavored water station from Aegis Living Greenwood, and a stand to promote the PNA’s Hot Meal Program.  Salmon Bay also had a booth at the event with dog treats and water bowls. We had a lot of fun trying out all the delicious bites and making new friends from the neighborhood!  The Bite of Phinneywood is an event we will get behind for many years to come!
